What we collect

• Google Analytics (visit counts). We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are useful. It uses cookies (see Google Analytics and cookies below).
• Hosting logs and aggregate traffic. Our host, Netlify, processes standard technical data such as IP address, requested page, referrer and browser type to deliver and secure the site. We view only aggregate reports from Netlify (for example, most-visited pages and referring sites). See Netlify's privacy policy.
• Email. If you email us, we keep your message and email address only to reply and to update listings.

Our price-alerts form

Our only form is the free price-alerts sign-up for pet owners. It is processed by our host, Netlify (Netlify Forms), and stored in our Netlify account. We don't sell or share the information, and we use it only for the purpose below.

Price alerts & Christmas availability (pet owners) — the free email alerts

• What we collect: your email address, city, pet type, which updates you want (holiday availability, price changes, new providers), your consent, and the page you signed up on. (Earlier "Christmas spot alerts" sign-ups collected email, city, pet type, consent and page, and are handled the same way.)
• What we use it for: only to email you a monthly digest of price changes, new providers and Christmas/holiday status changes in your city, plus short holiday availability alerts (at most one extra email a week in those periods). No other marketing, and we don't pass your email to kennels or advertisers.
• Who sends it: Kwan J Ajak, Pet Humanization Empire, from info@pethumanizationempire.com. Each email is checked by a person before it is sent.
• Unsubscribe: reply to any email, or email info@pethumanizationempire.com with "unsubscribe". We'll remove you from the list and delete your form submission.

The form stores only what you enter in it (your email address and the choices above) plus the page you signed up on. It has a hidden anti-spam field. Your email address is not sent to Google Analytics.

Google Analytics and cookies

We use Google Analytics 4, a service from Google, to understand how the site is used in general, for example how many people visit, which pages they read, roughly where they are (country and city, worked out from the IP address) and what device or browser they use. We see this only as totals and reports; it doesn't tell us who you are.

• How it works: when a page loads, your browser fetches Google's script and sends Google details such as the page address, the page you came from, your browser and screen size, and a random ID stored in a cookie. Google says Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. It may also note that a form was started or sent, but not what you typed.
• Cookies it sets on this site: _ga, _ga_2YNSYYVXKT and _ga_C9NMRRQYD7 (the last one is for Google Merchant Center, which is linked to our publisher's Google account and counts visits the same way). They hold a random ID so repeat visits can be counted, and they expire after up to 2 years (some browsers shorten this to about 13 months). They are first-party cookies (set on this site's address).
• Ad features are turned off. We have switched off Google signals and ad personalisation, and we tell Google not to set advertising cookies or use visits for ad personalisation. Because our Google tag is also linked to the publisher's Google Ads account, Google may still receive a basic page-view count for it, but without advertising cookies and marked as not for ad personalisation. We don't use Google Analytics data to advertise to you.
• Where the data goes: Google processes it, and it may be stored outside Australia. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
• Opting out: you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The site works fully without them.

Saved providers and the app (stays on your device)

You can install this site as an app and save providers to compare them. None of this needs an account, and none of it is sent to us.

• Saved providers and comparisons are stored only in your browser on this device (its "local storage"): the list of providers you saved, and nothing else about you. We can't see your list, it isn't sent to our servers or to Google Analytics, and it doesn't follow you to other devices. A comparison link you choose to share contains only the providers' page names.
• Other small settings stored the same way: the last city you looked at (to open the right city pages), whether you closed the "Install the app" tip, and, for the current visit only (cleared when you close the tab), how many pages you've opened, so the tip doesn't interrupt your first page.
• Offline copies: to make the app fast and usable without a connection, your browser keeps copies of pages you open, our provider data file and the site's styles and fonts (a "service worker" cache). They stay on your device and are replaced when the site updates. Google Analytics requests and the price-alerts form are never stored in this cache.
• Share button: it opens your device's own share menu (or copies the link); we don't see who you share with.
• To clear it all: press Save again on a provider to remove it, or clear this site's data in your browser settings (for an installed app, uninstalling it also removes it).

Businesses: free listing emails

Listing is free. There is no business sign-up, no payment and no form. If you email us to be listed or to correct a listing, you send us your listing details (for example business name, suburb and region, website, prices and Christmas rules).

• What we use it for: only to check and publish your listing and to contact you about it. Your business name, address, phone and website may appear on your public listing. Your contact name and email are never published.
• Opting out: email info@pethumanizationempire.com to stop contact, to have your listing removed, or to have your emails deleted.

Links to other sites

Provider pages link to kennels, catteries and other websites. Links to our publisher's shop (pethumanizationempire.com) include a campaign tag in the address (utm_source, utm_campaign) so the shop can count visits from this site; it contains no personal information. Other sites' privacy practices are their own.

If we add other analytics or advertising tools, or affiliate links, we will update this page and our disclosure first.
